The Michael Schwartz Library welcomes the Cleveland community and RNC attendees to the library during the week of July 18.

Tour the Library with Dr. Glenda Thornton, Director of the Michael Schwartz Library. Learn how an older facility has been transformed into a twenty first century library.
Cleveland in the Era of Streetcars
Monday, July 18 through Thursday July 21, 2016
2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Library, 3rd Floor, Special Collections
William C. Barrow, Head of Special Collections, will provide a presentation titled "Cleveland in the Era of Streetcars." Before the rise of the automobile, urban areas like Cleveland were connected by a vast network of street railways and the cities in a region by a wider network of interurban railways. In the nineteenth century they were horse-drawn, but during the 1890s the power of electrified streetcars opened nearby farmlands for new suburban development.

The Michael Schwartz Library presents "Shakespeare in Cleveland" exhibit, including images from Cleveland Memory, a scale model of the Globe Theater, and details about the traveling tour of First Folios stopping in Cleveland this summer. The exhibit was prepared in partnership with the CSU English Department to celebrate 400 years of Shakespeare.

Peruse the exhibition of historical resources on Cleveland's nineteenth century streetcar network.

Computer Access Available in the Library
Available during Library Hours
During RNC week, library visitors will have the opportunity to access the Internet and search Scholar (the library's catalog), Cleveland Memory, and more! The Cleveland Memory Project includes thousands of historical images and written histories of Cleveland, its industries and its people. A limited number of computers will be available that are not otherwise open to the general public. Printing will be available for $0.10 per page.

SYSTEMS ALERT : Electrical Outage to Disrupt Library Web Services Sat. July 9th from 5am - 1pm

Due to a planned electrical outage in Rhodes Tower, the following Library web services will be off-line from 5:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday July 9th.

The Research Databases will still be available for off-campus use via the OhioLINK website and you will be able to access Scholar, ECR and the Research Guides if you have bookmarked their URLs.

Other websites that will be unavailable include The Cleveland Memory Project, the Montage Collection, Octavofest, and streaming media provided through Mediasite.
